Still Moving

It’s been 2 weeks now since i started walking again; can I say it HAS NOT been easy?!?! Hopefully I shall prevail one way or another. I’m currently 270lbs…. in approx 2 months i want will at least reach to 260…. prefferably 250 :D. I’m being realistic right now.

It’s not easy thing to try and go to me bed by 10pm…. to wake up 4:30am. Previously i’ve been going to my bed at like 11pm-1am and waking up at about 7-8am. Like dem say:

“When you want good… yuh nose haffi run”

Kernel + Lirc

    With kernel 2.6.17-1 installed an running i wanted to start up on ivtv for my PVR-150. On look ing on ivtv's website they don't have a stable release for it as yet.  I WAS going to chance it and use version 0.6.2 of ivtv but opted not to.. mainly thinking i may be in more trouble than it's worth.

On a good note though ivtv 0.7stable release for kernel 2.16.17 should be released next weekend.

Since i wasn't able to install the ivtv drivers i figured let me try another hurdle that was giving me problems…….. LIRC…ARRRGHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!  Truth be told it wasn't that hard this time as it was last time. With the 2.6.16 kernel I was able to make the kernel serial driver as a module so when lirc is loaded the kernel serial driver would just be inactive….. BUT NOOOOOO not so for 2.6.17 kernel. Even after making the serial port a module it was still being loaded before lirc. After about 2 other compiles of the kernel still ending up in failure i decided to just NOT installl the kernel serial driver at all…. it's not like i'm going to be using the serial port for anything reallyl; it works liek a charm now Later on when i reach home I can configure my 2nd instance of lirc so mythtv can change the cable box stations when ready.

Kernel 2.6.17.1 - Complete

Well I finally compiled my own kernel without any error messages… all the times before when i looke dat dmesg i was getting: device-mapper: error adding target to table device-mapper: dm-linear: Device lookup failedThis installs the patch in /usr/src/kernel-patches/.

After doing some more google searches i found the fix :D. It seems to have soemthing to do with evms… Ubuntu patches the kernel to do what? I reall don't know But i ended up doing:

sudo -s -H
apt-get install kernel-patch-evms

This installs the patch in /usr/src/kernel-patches/  Before u do any changes to your kernel u should just:

gzip -d 2.6-bd-claim.patch.gz
sudo cat /usr/src/kernel-patches/diffs/evms-bd-claim/2.6-bd-claim.patch | patch -p1

Shit.. time to leave again… i'll write more when i reach home.

Upgrade Problems

Ok i compeleted the upgrade early this morning.. but what I was afraid that my happen.. has happened :cry:. My Hauppauge TV card and 2 instances of lirc (one for remote and one for cable box) are no cupput (have no clue how to spell that word. , sorry.

Drive is ready.. so this blog will ahve to wait till later….

Breezy upgrade…

I want to upgrade Minime to Dapper BUT i really don't want to redo anythign to much on it. I've worked to hard on it to get it where it is at right now. Then again i can look at like a excercise to see if i TRULY know what i'm doing when i do get everything back in working order.

Oh well we'll see… the night is still young

Ok i started the upgrade process 1,392 files to be downloaded. /me has fingers crossed

I forgot to mention i downloaded the DVD version of Dapper. BUT since i was to lazy to put in a DVD rom i eneded up doing a upgrade through update-manager :roll:. Laziness will never cease to amaze me at times

I ended up waking up at abput 3:25 and totally forgot about the upgrade until i saw the blaring blue light of Minime illuminating away. As Marc said in the comments it is asking me a barrage of questions which is good. I think i'm running a updated kernel (2.6.16.ck11) compared to the stock kernel (2.6.15-25 i think) of Dapper, I'll find out when this is done.

Still contemplating of i should walk this morning.. or just take a day break and start again thursday?!?!?
