Failing flashplugin

Posted in General on Friday, September 22, 2006 by Yatta

I’m just puttign this here so I can rember it JUST in case i happen to change up things again. While I was trying to install the flashplugin i came upon this:

Unpacking flashplugin-nonfree (from …/flashplugin-nonfree_7.0.68~ubuntu1~dapper1_i386.deb) … Setting up flashplugin-nonfree (7.0.68~ubuntu1~dapper1) … Downloading… done. usage: update-rc.d [-n] [-f] <basename> remove update-rc.d [-n] <basename> defaults [NN | sNN kNN] update-rc.d [-n] <basename> start|stop NN runlvl [runlvl] [...] . -n: not really -f: force dpkg: error processing flashplugin-nonfree (–configure): subprocess post-installation script returned error exit status 1 Errors were encountered while processing: flashplugin-nonfree E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1) A package failed to install.

basically all u do is change the line 35 of /var/lib/dpkg/info/flashplugin-nonfree.postinst

from

/var/lib/dpkg/info/flashplugin-nonfree.postinst

to

update-rc.d flashplugin-nonfree defaults >/dev/null

then away u go… Ofcourse i would have never of known this if it wasn’t for this post in the ubuntuforums

System back up

BeforeI left for work yesterday I had my machine (BlAcKtOwEr) going through the Dapper installation. I made a few changes in the BIOS pertaining to my SATA drive… PLUS i also added a /boot partition. With those things done grub was able to pass that hump that was before it. i must say I’m really not sure WHY grub wasn’t installing and  i feel a way that i don’t know for sure… BUT I wanted my system back and never wanted to bother to really troubleshoot it that much longer.

Now on to VMware Workstation and XGL/Compiz

Taylor pointed this out to me this morning as I reached worked, Study to decide if Jamaicans are addicted to gambling WHY?? WHY?? WHY?? Do we really need this study done? $4 million dolllars to tell us something we already know…. take Supreme Ventures Lottoa look at how many ppl play Lotto and it counterparts, head over to Supreme Ventures and see the various amounts of different ‘games’ you can play. Trust me people play them, it doesn’t matter WHERE in society you come from you’ll see all types of people in the line to buy them ticket.

There are SOOOOO many different things the Jamaican goverment can be using that money for why waste it to see if Jamaicans are additced to gambling? To see if were are following the ‘international trend‘.
