New Setup

Posted in Computers & Internet, Linux on Tuesday, August 29, 2006 by Yatta

Some ppl may be thinking that’s I’ve neglected my PC’s but rest assured I have not. Just haven’t really been able to do to much with with them. A few things I need, or should I say WILL do is setup LDAP on my little machine, Andromeda, with Samba along with NFS. Igodit has a working NFS setup, I’m not sure how it’s running… but i want one to :D. All together I have 3 machines in my room with another PC upstairs NFS would make certain things a little easier when talking about sharing files between the 4 machines.

Also need to figure out why my ifolder installation is no longer letting me loggin, but it’s not that important to me still (well not right now that is). One main issue I have with using this small machine is that fact that I currently have to use a USB Nic card which is slower than a regular PCI NIC. With using TorrentFlux right now though i guess the lower speed in using the USB is something I can live with.

I want to really try and at least get the LDAP/SAMBA PDC up and runnign again by Monday the latest.

Wow……Initial D

I’ve awlays heard about this anime a few years ago but i just never paid it any mind. Mainly because i’m not a car enthusiasts and figured this anime had NOTHING for me. BOWY mi did wrong… BIG TIME!!! Here is very brief synopsis of what this anime is about:

Fujiwara Takumi looks just like any ordinary 18 year old. He and his best friend Natsuki have just got their driving licenses, but unlike most teenagers his age Takumi hates driving and racing altogether (much to the surprise of his friends). However, when the leader of the Akina Speed Stars is involved in an accident, Takumi is forced to replace him in a downhill race against the renowned Red Suns. Exhibiting unparalleled skill that amazes even the best of the Red Suns, Takumi wins the race…with his father’s tofu delivery car. What is the reason for Takumi’s skill? How does his father factor into the equation? Can Takumi actually be the best racer in the whole of Japan? How many more racer-wannabes is this anime going to spawn? — taken from THEM Anime Reviews 4.0

I guess it was boredom and no anime to watch why i even started to watch this thing… I’m glad i did though. Takumi is just CLUELESS about cars, he just delivers the tofu for his family business and that is it he has no interest in cars or racing. Takumi doesn’t think his driving is anything special, he just drives the best he can to get home as soon as possible after delivering tofu for his dad. Check this though to make sure he doesn’t destroy the tofu he has to…….. (ok I think i’m saying to much.. don’t wont to give to much of the sotry away. 🙂 ) The drawing for this anime is kind of mixed… characters are hand-drawn and take some getting use to.. while the cars/races are computer rendered animation (which is nice I must say). Like the synopsis says above Takumi has unparallel skill when he is behind the wheel. Just to spoil it a little let me explain how this CLUELESS this guy is and how heends up racing for the first time. Stated earlier i said that Takumi has no interest in cars and racing right?? True. To get him to race his father offers to lend him the car, Truena AE86, with a FULL tank of GAS… yep.. a full tank of GAS for a date he is supposed to have with new girl-fren. As long as Takumi beats Nakazato down Mt. Akina he gets the car and full tank of gas. After this race though a racing god is born and a whole slew of interesting encouters happen.

Some may say this aniem is just for racing fans but it’s not. It has it’s comedic and romance side to to it. Itsuki, Takumi’s best fren, was the first character that drew mi into Initial D with his goofy manner and expressions. Itsuki and some other frens of Takumi’s just have NO luck with ladies seeing how they handle the particualr situations that arises is just whimsical.

Bleach is one of the animes I’m currently watching and also reading the manga. If you are reading this iI would like to assume that you already know about this sweet anime. JUST in case you are not here is a little description of Bleach by AnimeNfo :

‘.Kurosaki Ichigo is a 15 year old student, with the ability to see ghosts. His life was forever changed when he met Kuchiki Rukia, a Death God, who is charged with sending lost souls to the afterlife, known as Soul Society.

Whilst saving Ichigo from the attack of a malevolent ghost known as a Hollow, Rukia sustained serious injuries. Unable to finish the battle, she offers to share her powers, and responsibilities, with Ichigo.. .’Ichigo

Bleach is currently in it’s filler stages, by fillers i mean they are deviating from the manga, unlike Naruto these fillers are DAMN good. Some may even say it adds to the Bleach Story. Right now in Bleach 94 which i haven’t watched as yet (just wait till I reach home). Bleach 93 was tuff…… Rokia was getting her ass handed to her in a platter with all the trimmings… then who came in and saved her Kuchiki Byakuya BIG BRO!! 93 left us with a BIG explosion  from the HQ hmmmmmmm…… I wonder who caused that?

Now the manga that is moving on sweetly….. Ishida Uryuu  seems to be back and he seems determined, I think though with his father’s influence he may surprise Ichigo?!?!?

Screen…. Finally

Posted in Linux on Wednesday, August 23, 2006 by Yatta

Ok.. I’m about to give screen a run. Mainly because I need to convert this damn nuv file from MythTV to divx/xvid. I’ve always heard about screen but i never really had a reason to really use it… NOW is the time 😀  I would hate to start the conversion from a ssh connection then the connection goes down THEN i would have to start the thing all over again?!?! NO i don’t think so.

ok.. i’m off to try this thing.. i’ll post a update later on in the day.

Yea i still haven’t started back the walking…. with the rain and shit (yea it does sound like a excuse don’t??). Well even if i want to or not i’m going to at least start walking up the hill. My others means of transport has been sold.. so i can no longer make aphone call and ask someone to pick me up at the hill foot.

I’ve wanted to blog every now and then but every time i came in front of the PC there was something else for me to do. When ur busy yuh busy :D.

I notice I’m really not using my MythTV that much…. I think it’s mainly because my cable video quality isn’t all that great. To convert it to DivX/Xvid will take to long… so basically i wait a few hours and download the show which already has the commercials taken out. I guess MythTV was a project i did just to say “Yea, I did that!!!”
